Privacy Policy

Last updated: 31 July 2026

Foodwave is produced by Common Cause Co-operative Limited (company number 0900270), "we," "us" or "our." This policy explains what personal data we collect through foodwave.uk, why, and what rights you have over it.

If you have questions about this policy or want to exercise any of your rights below, contact us at hello@foodwave.uk.

What we collect

Mailing list signups. If you sign up to hear about Foodwave (on the homepage, About, Programme or Field Notes pages), we collect your first name and email address.

Producer/business enquiries. If you register interest as a producer or business via the About page, we collect whatever you send us, typically your name, email address, business name and the content of your message.

Event bookings. If you reserve a place for a Foodwave-hosted event, we collect your name, email address, party size, optional note, booking reference, and whether you opted into the mailing list.

We don't collect payment card details through the site. Some partner events are booked on third-party sites with their own privacy policies.

Why we collect it

We use this information to:

  • Send you Foodwave festival updates: dates, programme announcements and Field Notes articles
  • Respond to producer and business enquiries about taking part in Foodwave
  • Manage free event reservations, send booking confirmations, and check guests in at the door
  • Understand interest in the festival so we can plan future events

We do not use your data for anything beyond these purposes, and we do not sell or rent your data to third parties.

How long we keep it

We keep mailing list data for as long as you remain subscribed, producer/business enquiry data for as long as needed to respond to you and, where relevant, plan the following year's festival, and event booking data until the festival has finished and any follow-up is complete (typically within a few months). You can ask us to delete your data at any time (see "Your rights" below).

Who we share it with

We may share your data with service providers who help us run the mailing list, store bookings and send confirmation emails (for example an email delivery platform and a hosted database), strictly for the purposes above. Door staff may see your name and booking reference to admit you. We do not share your data with any other third party, including partners, sponsors or other producers, without your separate consent.

Your rights

Under UK data protection law, you have the right to:

  • Know what personal data we hold about you
  • Ask us to correct inaccurate data
  • Ask us to delete your data
  • Withdraw consent and unsubscribe at any time (every email includes an unsubscribe link)
  • Complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk if you think we've mishandled your data

To exercise any of these rights, email hello@foodwave.uk.

Cookies

The site uses Google Analytics 4 (measurement ID G-KNC2SHXMS8) to understand how people use foodwave.uk: pages visited, approximate location at country/city level, and device type. Google may set cookies or use similar local storage for this. We use the data only to improve the site and festival communications. We do not use advertising cookies.

You can block analytics cookies in your browser settings, or use a browser extension that blocks Google Analytics. The site will still work if you do.

Changes to this policy

If what we collect or how we use it changes (for example, if paid ticketing is added later), we'll update this page and revise it to reflect the new scope.
