Two nights only · Food Wave Lewes · September · £45 per person

A Supper Club by Foodwave
From field, forest and shore.
A seasonal Sussex supper celebrating food grown, reared, caught, foraged and made within 20 miles of Lewes.
- Dates
- 16th & 17th September
- Location
- Community Kitchen, Lewes
How much of a restaurant menu can we create from what grows, grazes, swims and can be gathered within 20 miles of our table?
Expect Sussex game and poultry, locally landed fish and shellfish, vegetables from nearby growers, Sussex dairy, orchard fruits and partly foraged ingredients — accompanied by a handful of store-cupboard ingredients from further afield where they make the food better.
This isn't about imposing an arbitrary definition of “local”. It's about shortening the distance between producer and plate, celebrating the people responsible for our food and discovering just how much extraordinary produce exists on our doorstep.
What Your £45 Ticket Includes
Shared snacks + your choice of two small plates + one main + one dessert.
Choose Ahead
When booking, we'll ask you to choose your main course in advance.
Why It Matters
This allows us to work more closely with our farmers, game suppliers and fishermen, buying according to what our guests are actually going to eat rather than over-ordering produce that could go to waste.
On The Night
Your small plates and dessert can be selected on the night, subject to seasonal availability.
Sussex in Your Glass
Alongside the menu, we'll be pouring a carefully selected range of Sussex wines and locally brewed beers and ciders, available to purchase separately on the night.
We'll also be making our own seasonal non-alcoholic drinks using locally grown and foraged fruits, herbs and botanicals.
Prefer to Bring Your Own?
Alongside our selection of Sussex wines, local beers and homemade soft drinks available to purchase on the night, guests are also welcome to bring their own wine or beer to enjoy with the meal.
Corkage is charged at £5 per person
In the spirit of Downs to Table, we'd love to encourage you to bring something made locally if you can — Sussex has an extraordinary selection of vineyards, breweries and cider makers — but what you bring is entirely up to you.
We'll provide glassware and keep your wine chilled where required.
Downs to Table is designed around the landscape rather than asking the landscape to conform to a fixed restaurant menu.
Weather changes. Harvests change. Wild ingredients appear when they're ready. Fishing boats don't return with exactly the same catch every day.
That's part of the point.
Our menu reflects what we hope to harvest in September, but after an exceptionally hot, dry summer, availability across Sussex may be unpredictable. Some ingredients may change depending on what is available.
What won't change is the principle behind the evening — Great food, grown, reared, caught, foraged and made as close to Lewes as we can reasonably source it.
Allergies & Dietary Requirements
Our food is prepared in a working kitchen and the menu contains a number of the 14 regulated allergens, including gluten/wheat, milk, egg, fish, molluscs, mustard, nuts and sulphites.
Full allergen information will be available for the final menu and from the team on the night.
Please Note
Unfortunately, we cannot accommodate nut allergies. Nuts are used extensively throughout the menu and preparation areas, so we cannot safely guarantee the absence of nuts or cross-contact.
We are also unable to accommodate vegan diets for this event. The menu has been created specifically around Sussex game, fish, dairy and seasonal produce.
Vegetarian options are available.
If you have another allergy, intolerance or dietary requirement, please tell us when booking. If you have a serious allergy or are unsure whether the menu is suitable for you, please contact us before purchasing your ticket.
